For each major change, identify:

  • Teams affected.
  • Workflow steps changing.
  • Tools being added, replaced, or removed.
  • Required training.
  • Policy or approval changes.
  • Migration deadlines and support windows.
  • Known exceptions.

Rollout strategy

Prefer staged rollout over broad mandates.

Migration support

Good migration support includes:

  • Clear before and after workflow examples.
  • Migration checklist.
  • Office hours or support rotation.
  • Known issue tracker.
  • Rollback or exception path.
  • Deadline and enforcement plan.

Resistance signals

Watch for:

  • Teams bypassing the new workflow.
  • Repeated support questions on the same step.
  • Manual exceptions becoming permanent.
  • Increased lead time or failed deployments.
  • Unclear ownership after migration.

Resistance is often a signal that the paved road is incomplete or the change was communicated poorly.
